Program:

9.00-9.15 Welcome address by Matti Tikkanen, vice-rector of the University of Helsinki and HEM Françoise Bourolleau, Ambassador of France to Finland

9.15-10.30 1st session: Improving Student mobility - University cooperation

The number of Finns going to France has gone down regularly since 2004. What is the current situation? Who are the mobile students? Which programs are available and which new ideas should be promoted in order to enhance mobility? What is the students’ point of view on mobility?

Are joint curricula/programs/degrees a way to enhance mobility? Dos and don’ts, based on the example of a French-Finnish joint degree. Are there other cooperation possibilities? Do Finnish universities even need cooperation?

- Juha Ketolainen, Assistant Director, Higher Education Department, CIMO

- Jean-Pierre Wignacourt, Professor, University of Lille 1, coordinator of the Erasmus-Mundus Master “Advanced Spectroscopy in Chemistry” and Kristiina Wähälä, Professor, University of Helsinki, responsible for the Master in Finland

- Finnish students with experience in France

10.30-11.00 Coffee break and networking

11.00-12.15 2nd session: Education and professional life

What does the labour market expect from educated students and especially from students with an experience in mobility? Do programs fulfil the companies’ needs? Is mobility a trump card or a drawback? What kind of mobility is needed?

Students will have the opportunity to meet with the French universities’ and companies’ representatives who will answer their questions.

Stands will be held also by CIMO and CampusFrance to give general information on their services.
